Thing 8: Minutes

I thought this was a good tool.  I practiced with minute items from a children's meeting that I had just attented.  It was easy to use and set out in a simple template however I think it needs to provide more space for agenda items.  I liked the special tabs of  instructions that you could select for the item eg idea, decision etc.

Thing7: iGoogle

Where would we be without Google? It's a fantastic tool and it was fun to customize the page with the tabs that I thought would be interesting to use.  I've added a quote tab, recipe tab and weather tab - may not always cook a new dish but I do enjoy looking at the food pictures ha!

Thing 6: QR codes

Had no idea what QR codes were but now I'm seeing them everywhere from posters and magazines to the back of my shampoo bottle!  I think they are a great idea and it would be great to add them to our event posters.  By scanning the code, borrowers could have all the details (date, time, place etc) without having to worry about writing down the details or losing the flyer.

I also made a basic QR code linking it to our catalogue page.
The only issue with QR codes is that people need smart phones in order to use the application that can scan the codes.

Thing 5: Google Art Project

I thought this was a great sight! A fantastic tool for anyone intrested in art and the best feature is that you can 'tour' the galleries anytime without having to physically be there!

Thing 4: BigHugeLabs and Goodreads

Had fun playing around with BigHugeLabs - was overwelmed with the choices! I found a copy of a poster in google images that I've seen in the local coffee shop that made me laugh!
Goodreads is a great site also - I've started making a list of books to read.  Too many books not enough time.......

Thing 3: E-books and e-Audio

Seeing as Bolinda provides Australian titles I downloaded John Marsden's 'So much to tell you'.  It's a teen book that I have read in the past.  I only downloaded part of the book and it took 8 minutes with no trouble and found the intructions easy to follow.  Will leave OneClickDigital for another time as we are still working out some issues with the privider.

Thing 2: Twitter and RSS feeds

I am now on twitter! I have also subscribed to the library's Reading Room blog.
